I'm Sara Hammond.

Hi there.

I’m a therapist, and the founder of How Humans Heal. I’ve spent the past twenty years studying how we heal, and how we connect with ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

Building your therapy practice is about so much more than advertising and business skills. It’s about sharing your values, and showing up in a way that builds trust and empowers your clients.

I DON'T TRY TO CONVINCE YOU that social media, self-promotion and sales tactics are the keys to success. Instead, I show you how connection and client-care are the real foundations of a fully-booked practice.

My approach is different from most of what's out there in the wellness industry.

I BELIEVE THAT MAINSTREAM 'BUSINESS' ADVICE just doesn’t fit with what we do. I've taken the parts of it that really work and combined them with the essence of healing – trust, safety and empowerment.

You don’t have to buy into the story that it’s hard to make a living in the world of holistic health.

And you don't need to focus on ‘getting attention’, either.
Success doesn't look like waving a sign that says
Look at me!’, or ‘I’m the expert!’, or ‘I can fix you!

Here's the truth.

There's another path to follow.

THERE'S ANOTHER PATH TO FOLLOW

EVERYWHERE, I WOULD HEAR the same phrase: "IT'S HARD TO MAKE A LIVING AS A THERAPIST".

Despite years of studying, the ‘building a practice’ side of things – marketing, looking for clients, setting boundaries – was a real challenge. These subjects had only been touched on, but never covered in depth.

When I first became a therapist, it didn't take long to realise that there was something missing.

(Spoiler: it doesn't have to be this way.)

This was the expectation. All around me, dedicated and caring practitioners seemed to be struggling: not having enough clients, not earning enough, not feeling confident about the next steps to take.

(Spoiler: it doesn't have to be this way.)

In the end, experience was my best teacher. I learned that what brought me clients time and again wasn't advertising or special offers. It was about communicating in a way that created genuine connection.

Using what I discovered, I've grown two therapy practices to fully booked with a waitlist. First in a small town, then in a city. I've turned how to do this into a step-by-step process.

THEN, THERE WAS THE WHOLE ISSUE OF INTEGRITY. MAYBE YOU'VE FELT THE SAME - LIKE marketinG SEEMS KIND OF at odds with healing itself.

On top of that..

And you can do it too.

Trust and connection are at the heart of what it means to be human.

So let’s put them at the heart of growing your practice, too. From the moment someone first hears about you, or lands on your website, to the very first appointment and beyond.
